Tegafur is converted into the active drug 5FU (fluorouracil) in the liver and then absorbed by tumour cells. It inhibits the synthesis of genetic material (DNA and RNA) and prevents the growth of cancer cells. Gimeracil prevents the degradation of 5FU, and Oteracil inhibits the gastrointestinal toxicity of 5FU. Together, Tegoyes 5.8mg/15.8mg/20mg Capsule helps treat stomach cancer.

Drug Warnings
Do not take Tegoyes 5.8mg/15.8mg/20mg Capsule if you are allergic to any of its components, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have a history of severe and unexpected reactions to fluoropyrimidine therapy, known dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD) deficiency, severe bone marrow suppression, or end-stage renal disease requiring dialysis. Inform the doctor if you have bone marrow suppression, diarrhoea, dehydration, kidney or liver problems, or eye toxicity. Tegoyes 5.8mg/15.8mg/20mg Capsule is not recommended for use in children below 18 years. Let the doctor know if you take other medicines, including supplements and herbal products.
