My doctor has prescribed Uprise D3 60K to take once daily for 3 days, followed by once weekly for 12 weeks. However, I accidentally continued taking it once daily for 8 consecutive days. Is there any risk from this overdose, and what should I do now?
Taking Uprise D3 60K once daily for 8 days, rather than the planned 3 days, is unlikely to cause serious harm in most healthy adults. This medicine contains Cholecalciferol (a form of vitamin D), and short-term extra doses may slightly raise vitamin D levels, but serious toxicity is rare at this level of use. However, very high vitamin D levels over time may increase blood calcium levels, leading to symptoms such as nausea, loss of appetite, constipation, increased thirst, frequent urination, or weakness. Since you have taken 5 extra doses, stop taking it daily and return to your original once-weekly schedule as advised by your doctor. Do not take any more extra doses. If you notice any unusual symptoms or if you have kidney disease or other medical conditions, please inform your doctor. In most cases, no treatment is needed, but your doctor may suggest a blood test if required.
