I am currently using tacrolimus ointment, placenta extract ointment, and trioxsalen tablets for vitiligo. Are these the most effective treatments for my condition, or are there better pharmaceutical options available?
Your current treatment plan is a recognized approach, but there are newer, highly effective options available today. While tacrolimus and trioxsalen (combined with light therapy) are standard, newer treatments like topical JAK inhibitors (such as ruxolitinib) have shown excellent results in restoring skin pigment. Additionally, narrowband UVB phototherapy is now often preferred over oral trioxsalen because it has fewer side effects. Topical corticosteroids also remain a strong first-line option, while placenta extract has less clinical evidence. Your regimen is a good starting point, but I recommend discussing these newer, advanced therapies with your dermatologist to see if they are a better fit for you.
