How is the Shingrix vaccine administered? Is it given as a single injection or as two separate doses? Also, does this pack contain both required doses of the Shingrix vaccine or only a single dose?
The Shingrix vaccine (Recombinant varicella zoster virus glycoprotein E antigen) is administered as an intramuscular injection, usually into the upper arm. It is not a single-dose vaccine and requires two doses to provide full protection against shingles. The second dose is typically given 2 to 6 months after the first dose. In people with weakened immunity, the interval between doses may be shortened if advised by a doctor. Each dose is given as a separate injection at different appointments, not together. A standard Shingrix pack contains only one dose of the vaccine. Therefore, a second dose must be obtained separately to complete the full vaccination schedule.
