I have external piles with irritation around the anus during bowel movements. Please suggest a suitable ointment for relief.

External piles can cause irritation, burning, pain, and discomfort during bowel movements. You may get relief by applying an ointment meant for piles, such as one containing lidocaine or hydrocortisone, which can help reduce pain, itching, and swelling. Apply it gently around the affected area after passing stools and after properly washing and drying the area. Warm sitz baths, where you sit in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes, can also help soothe irritation. To prevent piles from worsening, avoid straining during bowel movements and try to keep your stools soft by drinking plenty of water and eating fibre-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Constipation can make the condition worse. Avoid using harsh soaps or rubbing the area excessively, as this may increase irritation. If you notice severe pain, bleeding, swelling, or if your symptoms persist for more than a few days despite treatment, consult a doctor for proper examination and further treatment.
