About Pilesoft Ointment

Pilesoft Ointment is a rectal ointment used to relieve pain, itching, swelling, and irritation caused by haemorrhoids (piles) and other painful conditions around the anus. It contains allantoin, hydrocortisone, lidocaine, and zinc oxide, which work together to soothe discomfort, reduce inflammation, protect irritated skin, and support natural healing.

This ointment provides temporary relief from haemorrhoid symptoms and discomfort caused by minor irritation or tears around the anus. It reduces pain and itching while protecting the affected skin. If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days, keep returning, or occur with ongoing rectal bleeding, consult your doctor. Some haemorrhoids may require further examination or a medical procedure if treatment with ointment and lifestyle changes is not enough.

Use this ointment exactly as directed by your doctor. It is usually applied after a bowel movement. Do not apply more than recommended or use it for longer than advised. Eating fibre-rich foods, drinking enough water, and avoiding straining during bowel movements can help keep stools soft and support recovery.

Mild burning, stinging, redness, dryness, or irritation may occur after application. These effects are usually temporary. Stop using the ointment and contact your doctor if you develop severe irritation, worsening pain, signs of infection, thinning of the skin, or new or increased rectal bleeding. Prolonged or excessive use may increase hydrocortisone absorption and, in rare cases, affect the body’s natural production of steroid hormones.

Do not use Pilesoft Ointment if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or have an untreated infection in the affected area. Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, damaged or thinning skin, severe rectal bleeding, or another rectal condition. Children should use this ointment only under medical supervision. If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, breastfeeding, or an older adult, consult your doctor before use. Also tell your doctor about other medicines you use, especially steroid medicines or products applied to the same area.

Uses of Pilesoft Ointment

Your doctor may prescribe this medicine to treat several conditions, including:

  • Haemorrhoids (piles): Pilesoft Ointment helps reduce the intense itching, swelling, and throbbing pain caused by swollen veins in the rectal area.
  • Anal Fissures: This ointment numbs the sharp pain associated with small tears in the rectal lining and supports faster healing of the skin.

Key Benefits

Pilesoft Ointment provides rapid, multi-action relief to help you return to your daily activities without discomfort. By targeting pain and inflammation directly at the source, it helps you feel better quickly and makes sitting, walking, and bowel movements much more comfortable.

  • Immediate pain relief: It numbs the area rapidly, taking away the sharp, burning pain of inflamed tissues.
  • Reduced swelling and itching: It calms the body's inflammatory response, which visibly reduces swelling and stops the urge to scratch.
  • Protective skin barrier: It coats the sensitive rectal skin, shielding it from friction and the irritating effects of bowel movements.
  • Support for skin healing: It moisturises and encourages skin cells to repair, helping minor tears and abrasions close faster.

Directions for Use

  • Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication to ensure safety.
  • Check the label for directions and use it as advised.
  • Apply the prescribed amount of Pilesoft Ointment using the applicator onto the rectal area.
  • Wash your hands after applying Pilesoft Ointment.

How Pilesoft Ointment Works

Pilesoft Ointment contains allantoin, hydrocortisone, lidocaine, and zinc oxide. These ingredients work together to relieve pain and irritation, reduce inflammation, protect the affected area, and support healing. Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic that temporarily blocks pain signals from the nerves in the treated area. It usually begins to provide a numbing effect within a few minutes, although the onset and duration of relief may vary depending on the condition of the affected area and how the ointment is used. Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, swelling, and itching. When used as directed for a short period, only a small amount is usually absorbed into the bloodstream. However, absorption may increase if the ointment is used too often, for longer than recommended, or on damaged or inflamed tissue. Zinc oxide forms a protective barrier over the affected area. This helps shield irritated skin from moisture, friction, and further irritation. Allantoin soothes and softens the affected skin while supporting its natural healing process. Together, these ingredients provide temporary relief from discomfort while helping protect and soothe the affected rectal area.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Eat more fibre: Increase your intake of high-fibre foods like whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and beans to soften your stool and prevent constipation.
  • Drink plenty of fluids: Stay hydrated by drinking at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily to make bowel movements easier to pass.
  • Avoid straining: Do not strain or hold your breath during bowel movements, as this increases pressure on rectal veins and worsens haemorrhoids.
  • Take warm sitz baths: Soak your pelvic area in warm water for 15 to 20 minutes two or three times a day to soothe irritation and relax rectal muscles.
  • Keep the area clean: Use moist wipes or a bidet instead of dry toilet paper to clean yourself gently after a bowel movement.
