Description

Chamomilla, commonly known as German Chamomile, is a homoeopathic medicine derived from the flowering plant Matricaria chamomilla. Belonging to the Asteraceae family, it has been traditionally valued for its therapeutic properties in treating nervous and gastrointestinal ailments, particularly those involving irritability and digestive disturbances. In homoeopathy, Chamomilla is primarily used to address symptoms such as teething pain, colic, and diarrhea. It is also employed for its effects on restlessness, hypersensitivity to pain, and conditions aggravated by anger or frustration.

Common Name: Babunah, German Chamomile, SBL's Chamomilla can be helpful in the following conditions:

  • Peevishness and Restlessness, Often used for children who are irritable, restless, and suffer from colic. These children frequently demand many things and then refuse them, and can only be soothed by constant carrying and attention.
  • Impatience and Sensitivity, The patient is extremely sensitive to pain, impatient, and intolerant of being interrupted or spoken to. They are prone to complaints stemming from anger and frustration.
  • Oversensitivity to Stimulants, Symptoms may arise from the abuse of coffee and narcotics, leading to unendurable pains and numbness.
  • Headache, Characterized by throbbing pain in one side of the head, often accompanied by a tendency to bend the head backward.
  • Earache and Inflammation, Ear pain with soreness, swelling, and heat, often causing significant distress. The ears may feel blocked.
  • Persistent ringing in the ears.
  • Lid Irritation, Smarting of the eyelids, with possible yellow discoloration of the sclera. Spasmodic closing of the eyelids.
  • Sensitivity to Smells, Increased sensitivity to various odors, accompanied by coryza (nasal inflammation) that disrupts sleep.
  • Jaw and Tooth Pain, Stitches in the jaw extending to the inner ear and teeth. Toothache worsens with warm drinks, coffee, and at night. Jerking of the tongue and facial muscles, particularly in teething children.
  • Swollen Glands, Swelling of the parotid and submaxillary glands.
  • Constriction, Feeling of constriction in the throat, as if a plug were lodged there.
  • Toothache, Aggravated by warm drinks and coffee, especially during pregnancy.
  • Night Salivation, Excessive saliva production at night.
  • Digestive Issues, Foul burping, nausea after consuming coffee, sweating after eating or drinking, and aversion to warm drinks. Yellow-coated tongue and bitter taste.
  • Vomiting, Bilious vomiting, acid regurgitation, and stomach pain as if from a stone.
  • Abdominal distention and Pain, Swollen abdomen with gripping pain around the navel and back pain. Flatulent colic, especially after anger, with red cheeks and hot perspiration.
  • Hepatic colic and acute duodenitis.

  • Hoarseness and Cough, Hoarse voice, rawness in the larynx, irritable dry cough, chest tightness, and bitter daytime expectoration.
  • Mucus rattling in children's chests.
  • Pain in Loins and Hips, Severe pain in the lower back and hips, often accompanied by stiffness in the neck muscles.
  • Rheumatic Pains, Intense rheumatic pains that drive the patient out of bed at night, burning soles, and a paralytic loss of power in the feet at night, making it difficult to stand.
