About Calxpro Tablet 10's

Calxpro Tablet 10's is primarily used to treat low blood calcium levels. It effectively treats various conditions, such as vitamin D deficiency, osteoporosis (characterised by weak bones), and latent tetany (a muscle disease associated with low blood calcium levels). Additionally, Calxpro Tablet 10's is used to treat hyperparathyroidism (overactive parathyroid glands) and metabolic bone disease in people with chronic kidney disease, surgery, or other conditions.

Calxpro Tablet 10's contains Calcitriol (Vitamin D3). Calcitriol is a synthetic version of Vitamin D3. It raises Vitamin D levels and thereby increases calcium levels in the blood. This helps in improving the absorption rate of calcium from the intestine.

In some cases, Calxpro Tablet 10's can cause side effects like constipation, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, mood changes, weakness, tiredness, fast or pounding heartbeat, bone/muscle pain, and headache. Most of these side effects of Calxpro Tablet 10's do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

Take Calxpro Tablet 10's as prescribed by your doctor. Depending on your medical condition, you are advised to take Calxpro Tablet 10's for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you. Calxpro Tablet 10's can be taken with or without food. Do not chew, bite or break the medicine.

What if I have taken an overdose of Calxpro Tablet 10's

Avoid exceeding the recommended dose as it could lead to an overdose. Symptoms of overdose may include feeling tired, difficulty thinking clearly, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation, increased thirst, increased urination, weight loss, weakness, headache, upset stomach, dry mouth, muscle or bone pain, metallic taste in the mouth, difficult or painful urination, changes in vision, hallucination (seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist), fever or chills, stomach pain, pale/fatty stools, yellowing of the skin or eyes, runny nose, decreased sexual desire, and irregular heartbeat. If you experience these symptoms or suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

  • Avoid taking Calxpro Tablet 10's if you are allergic to it.
  • Before taking Calxpro Tablet 10's, inform your doctor if you are undergoing hemodialysis due to kidney problems and have a stent in the heart.
  • Calxpro Tablet 10's may alter calcium levels, so it is recommended to monitor calcium levels in the blood and urine regularly.
  • Inform your doctor immediately if you notice fever, increased thirst and urination, dehydration, bedwetting, constipation, and stomach pain, as they may be signs of very high calcium levels in your blood.

  • Eat a serving of broccoli, cabbage, bok choy, spinach, and other green leafy vegetables daily.

  • Sprinkle sesame seeds over your food, vegetables, and salads. Sesame seeds are high in calcium.
