I experience eye pain and see different colours after opening my eyes. What could be the cause?
Eye pain, along with seeing different colours (like flashes or unusual visual patterns) after opening your eyes, can have several causes. It may be due to eye strain from long screen use, dryness of the eyes, or temporary pressure changes inside the eye. Sometimes, it can also be related to migraine (even without headache), where people see colored lights or flashes. However, in some cases, it may indicate a more important problem, such as nerve irritation, inflammation inside the eye, or retinal issues. If this happens occasionally and settles quickly, it may not be serious, but you should still reduce screen time, take regular breaks, and keep your eyes well-lubricated (using artificial tears if needed). However, if the symptoms are frequent, worsening, and associated with blurred vision, headache, or loss of vision, you should consult an eye specialist as soon as possible for a detailed examination. Early evaluation helps prevent complications and ensures proper treatment.
