I have noticed black spots appearing on my face. What could be the reason, and how can I treat them?

Black spots on the face are commonly caused by acne marks, sun exposure, pigmentation, ageing, allergies, or skin infections. In some people, hormonal changes, stress, poor skincare habits, or the use of unsuitable cosmetic products may also lead to dark spots. These spots are usually harmless, but they can become more noticeable over time if not treated properly. To help reduce them, wash your face gently twice daily with a mild cleanser and avoid rubbing or scratching the skin. Use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every day, as sunlight can further darken the spots. Drinking enough water, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, and getting proper sleep may also improve skin health. Avoid using harsh fairness creams or steroid creams without medical advice, as they can damage the skin. You may benefit from creams containing vitamin C, niacinamide, azelaic acid, or mild retinol, but these should be used carefully. If the spots increase, itch, spread, or change in appearance, consult a doctor or dermatologist for proper evaluation and treatment.
