About Monospas Tablet
Monospas Tablet is used to treat tuberculosis (TB). Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, primarily affecting the lungs, but it can also spread to other parts of the body, including the kidneys, brain, spine, and bone marrow. Monospas Tablet is ineffective for treating colds, flu, or other viral infections.
Monospas Tablet contains sodium amino salicylate. It works by exerting its bacteriostatic effect against Mycobacterium tuberculosis by competing with PABA for enzymes involved in folate synthesis, thereby suppressing the growth and reproduction of the bacteria, ultimately leading to cell death.
You are advised to take Monospas Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. Sometimes, you may experience common side effects like diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Most of these symptoms resolve gradually on their own over time. However, consult the doctor if any of these symptoms persist or worsen.
Let your doctor know if you are allergic Monospas Tablet or any of its contents. Consult the doctor before taking Monospas Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your doctor about your pre-existing health conditions and medicines to rule out any side effects/interactions.
