Fibator Tablet is used in the treatment of high lipid levels (cholesterol and triglycerides levels) and prevention of heart diseases and blood vessel blockage. It contains Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate, which lowers the bad cholesterol (low-density lipoproteins or LDL) and triglycerides (TG) and increases the levels of good cholesterol (high-density lipoproteins or HDL). In some cases, you may experience allergic reactions, hyperglycemia (excess of glucose in the bloodstream), headache, blurred vision, stomach pain, constipation, headaches, joint swelling (oedema), joint pain, muscle pain, back pain, slow heart rate, and nausea. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.

About Fibator Tablet

Fibator Tablet is indicated in the treatment of hyperlipidemia (high lipid levels), mixed dyslipidemia (low good cholesterol and high bad cholesterol and triglycerides), hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) and hypertriglyceridemia (high levels of triglycerides).

Fibator Tablet contains atorvastatin and fenofibrate. Atorvastatin reduces cholesterol production in the liver. Fenofibrate works by lowering the level of triglycerides in the blood and bad cholesterol. Together, Fibator Tablet helps treat high cholesterol levels.

In some cases, you may experience side effects like headache, blurred vision, stomach pain, constipation, joint swelling (oedema), joint pain, muscle pain, back pain, and nausea. Most of these side effects of Fibator Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Take Fibator Tablet as prescribed. Your doctor will advise you on how often you take Fibator Tablet based on your medical condition. Fibator Tablet can be taken with or without food with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break the medicine.

Inform the doctor if you are allergic to any of the components in Fibator Tablet . If you have hypothyroidism, drink more than 2 servings of alcohol per day, and have a muscle disorder (fibromyalgia), it is advised to inform your doctor before using Fibator Tablet . Immediately contact your doctor if you experience yellowing of the skin (jaundice), allergic reaction, cramps, or muscle weakness. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Uses of Fibator Tablet

Fibator Tablet is used to manage high lipid levels and lower the risk of cardiovascular problems. The detailed uses of Fibator Tablet are as follows:

  • High cholesterol: Fibator Tablet reduces high levels of total cholesterol and LDL (bad cholesterol) in the blood.
  • High triglycerides: Fibator Tablet lowers raised triglyceride levels to minimize the risk of pancreatitis and heart disease.
  • Dyslipidemia: Fibator Tablet manages abnormal levels of cholesterol and triglycerides together.
  • Prevention of heart disease: Fibator Tablet lowers the risk of heart attacks by managing lipid profiles.
  • Prevention of blood vessel blockage: Fibator Tablet helps prevent atherosclerosis by reducing plaque buildup in arteries.

Directions for Use

• It can be taken with or without food as advised by a doctor. • Adhere to your doctor's guidance regarding the dosage and timing of this medication for optimal effectiveness. • Swallow Fibator Tablet as a whole with a glass of water. • Do not crush, chew, or break it.

Medicinal Benefits

  • It helps lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and increases the level of good cholesterol (HDL) in dyslipidemia or hyperlipidemia.
  • Fibator Tablet also lowers the amount of fat or cholesterol deposition (plaque) in the arteries of the heart, thereby reducing the chance of having a heart attack or stroke in the future.
  • Balances abnormal lipid profiles by lowering triglycerides and LDL while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL or 'good cholesterol').
  • It increases the uptake and breakdown of LDL cholesterol in the liver. It suppresses the production of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), thereby reducing overall bad cholesterol levels in the blood.
  • Fibator Tablet enhances the activity of lipoprotein lipase, an enzyme that breaks down fats in the bloodstream. It also helps reduce uric acid levels by promoting its excretion through urine.
  • It reduces the chances of complications such as heart attack, stroke, and angina (chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart) due to high cholesterol levels.

How Fibator Tablet Works

Fibator Tablet is composed of two medicines, namely: Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate. Atorvastatin is a lipid-lowering medication that blocks the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase required to make cholesterol in the body. As a result, it lowers the bad cholesterol (low-density lipoproteins or LDL) and triglycerides (TG) and increases the levels of good cholesterol (high-density lipoproteins or HDL). Fenofibrate is another lipid-lowering agent that works by increasing the natural substance (lipoprotein lipase) that breaks down fats in the bloodstream, thereby increasing its utilization and removal. As a result, it decreases harmful cholesterol like LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides (TG) and increases levels of HDL (good cholesterol).

Storage

• Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight. • Keep out of sight and reach of children. • Non cold chain - To be stored in cool places at 10ºC to 25ºC or below 30ºC.

What if I have taken an overdose of Fibator Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Fibator Tablet as it may cause overdose. If you find symptoms like muscle pain, dark-colored urine, weakness, or yellowing of the skin, please consult a doctor immediately.

Drug Warnings

  • Do not take Fibator Tablet if you are allergic to any of its components.
  • A patient should consult a doctor before taking Fibator Tablet if a patient has had a previous stroke with bleeding into the brain or has small pockets of fluid in the brain from previous strokes.
  • Also, let your doctor know if you have kidney/liver problems, hypothyroidism, repeated muscle aches or pains, a family history of muscle problems, are older than 70 years, have diabetes, or have problems with certain proteins in your blood.
  • Fibator Tablet may increase the risk of muscle problems. Talk to your doctor if you experience muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, particularly if accompanied by malaise or fever.
  • Consult your doctor before starting Fibator Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
