Nosebleeds in colder environments are usually due to dryness of the nasal lining, where cold air and indoor heating can make the inside of the nose dry and fragile, leading to easy bleeding. To prevent this, keep your nose moist by applying a small amount of saline nasal gel inside the nostrils, use a humidifier if possible, stay well hydrated, and avoid nose picking or forceful blowing. If a nosebleed occurs, sit upright, lean slightly forward (not backwards), and pinch the soft part of your nose firmly for 10-15 minutes while breathing through your mouth; this usually stops the bleeding. You can also apply a cold compress to the nose. Most cases of Epistaxis are harmless, but if bleeding is frequent, heavy, lasts more than 20 minutes, or is associated with other symptoms like high blood pressure, it is important to consult a doctor for further evaluation.
I have been experiencing severe nosebleeds for the past two days. I used Botroclot nasal drops and tablets, which stopped the bleeding for two days, but it has started again. What should I do?

Severe or repeated nosebleeds, known as Epistaxis, can occur due to dry nasal passages, infection, injury, or high blood pressure. Although Botroclot may help stop bleeding temporarily, repeated bleeding should be checked by a doctor. If bleeding occurs, sit upright, lean slightly forward, and gently pinch the soft part of your nose for about 10 minutes to help stop it. Avoid blowing or picking the nose. Since the bleeding has returned, it is advisable to consult an ENT doctor so they can examine the nose and treat the underlying cause.
