I have cracked heels. What can I do to treat and prevent them?
Cracked heels are usually caused by dry skin, prolonged standing or walking, or wearing open-backed shoes. You can treat and prevent them by regularly applying a thick moisturiser, gently exfoliating dead skin, drinking plenty of water, and using heel balms or wearing socks to lock in moisture. See a doctor if the cracks are deep, painful, bleeding, or if you have diabetes, as this increases the risk of infection.
