I am suffering from a fungal infection around the genital and pelvic area. I have already used several topical treatments such as Imidil cream, Candid-B cream, Fusiderm-B cream, and Sapat lotion, but the infection has not completely resolved. Please advise on further treatment options.
A fungal infection around the genital and pelvic area that keeps returning or does not fully improve despite using multiple creams is a common problem, especially when mixed creams containing steroids are used repeatedly. Creams such as Candid-B and Fusiderm-B contain steroid combinations that may temporarily reduce itching and redness, but they can also weaken the skin and allow the fungal infection to spread deeper or come back again after stopping the medicine. This often leads to chronic or difficult-to-treat fungal infections. The genital and groin area remains warm and moist, which further encourages fungal growth. Proper treatment usually requires identifying the exact type and extent of the infection and avoiding self-medication. Keep the affected area clean and completely dry, wear loose cotton underwear, avoid tight clothes, and change sweaty clothing quickly. Do not scratch the area, as scratching can spread the infection and damage the skin further. Avoid sharing towels or undergarments with others. Since the infection has persisted despite several topical medicines, you should consult a dermatologist for proper examination. The doctor may prescribe a stronger antifungal cream or antifungal tablets for a longer duration if needed and may also check for contributing factors such as diabetes, excessive sweating, obesity, low immunity, or reinfection from family members. Sometimes tests such as skin scraping may be required to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other skin conditions that can look similar to a fungal infection. With correct treatment, good hygiene, and patience, most chronic fungal infections can improve significantly and heal completely over time.
