A few drops of Dettol accidentally went into my right eye, and I am having mild pain and irritation. What should I do immediately, and which treatment may help protect my eye?

If Dettol drops get into your eye, they can cause irritation due to their chemicals. You might feel burning, redness, watering, or pain, or notice blurry vision for a while. Even a small amount can upset the eye?s protective layer, so it?s important to wash your eye right away. Rinse your eye with clean running water or normal saline for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Try to keep blinking as you rinse to help wash out the chemical. Don?t rub your eye, as this can make things worse. After rinsing, rest your eye and avoid looking at screens for a while to help it recover. Sometimes, a doctor may suggest lubricating eye drops or other treatments after checking your eye. Don?t use contact lenses until your eye feels completely normal again. If you notice more pain, severe redness, blurred vision, swelling, or if the irritation doesn?t go away after washing, get medical help right away.
