I am taking Glycomet GP3/850 in the morning, and Glycomet 500 SR, but my fasting sugar sometimes goes up to 180, 190, or even 200. Why are my sugar levels still high despite taking these medicines?
Blood sugar can remain high even while taking Glycomet-GP3/850 and Glycomet 500 SR because diabetes may gradually progress over time, and the body may stop responding as effectively to the same treatment. High fasting sugar levels can also happen because of late-night eating, stress, poor sleep, lack of regular exercise, infections, weight gain, or irregular meal timings. Fasting readings reaching 180 to 200 suggest that your diabetes is not fully controlled at present and may need closer review. Sometimes people control food during the day but still have high early morning sugar because of hormonal changes during sleep or heavy dinners at night. Taking medicines regularly is important, but lifestyle habits also strongly affect sugar levels. Avoid sugary drinks, sweets, excess rice, bakery foods, and late-night meals as much as possible. Regular walking, proper sleep, stress reduction, and maintaining fixed meal timings may help improve fasting sugar levels naturally. Monitoring HbA1c and daily sugar patterns can also help understand whether the current treatment is adequate. Talk to your doctor if your readings continue to stay high or if you develop excessive thirst, frequent urination, blurred vision, weakness, or sudden weight changes.
