Is it safe to take Dygene syrup for heartburn and indigestion during my sixth week of pregnancy, given that my prescribed medications, Perinorm and Doxinate, are not relieving my nausea, and I feel extremely heavy and have a severe burning sensation even after eating small meals?
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am so sorry you are feeling so uncomfortable. It is very common to experience severe heartburn and nausea during these early weeks. Dygene syrup, which contains magnesium and aluminum hydroxide, is generally considered safe for short-term relief during pregnancy. However, since your prescribed medications, Perinorm (metoclopramide) and Doxinate (doxylamine and pyridoxine), are not providing relief, please consult your obstetrician before starting Dygene. They can safely adjust your doses or suggest better alternatives. In the meantime, try staying upright for at least an hour after eating. You are doing great, and we will get this managed for you.
