I have been facing high acidity for about 10 years and taking Dompan SR regularly, but still not getting lasting relief. How can I manage this better?
Persistent acidity despite regular use of Dompan SR may happen because of chronic acid reflux, gastritis, irregular meals, stress, spicy food intake, late-night eating, obesity, smoking, or conditions such as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. Symptoms may include burning in the chest, sour belching, bloating, throat irritation, heaviness after meals, or disturbed sleep. Better control often requires both medication adjustments and long-term lifestyle changes rather than relying on a single medicine. Doctors may sometimes change the acidity medicine, adjust timing, evaluate for H. pylori infection, or advise endoscopy if symptoms continue for many years. Eating smaller meals, avoiding oily and spicy foods, reducing intake of tea, coffee, and alcohol, quitting smoking, and not lying down immediately after eating may significantly reduce acid reflux. Weight control, stress management, regular sleep, and early dinners may also gradually improve symptoms. Avoid taking acidity medicines continuously for years without regular medical review because long-term uncontrolled acidity may irritate the food pipe or stomach lining. Seek medical care if difficulty swallowing, vomiting, black stools, weight loss, chest pain, or persistent vomiting occurs.
