I have itching all over my body, especially on my penis and scrotum, with red bumps. My doctor said it could be scabies and gave me Crotorax lotion, but when I applied it to that area, it caused a cooling and irritating feeling. Is this normal, or should I stop using it?
Scabies can cause intense itching, red bumps, and irritation around sensitive areas like the groin, penis, and scrotum because the skin there is thin and delicate. Crotorax Lotion may sometimes cause a cooling, burning, tingling, or mildly irritating sensation after application, especially on sensitive skin. Mild temporary irritation can happen, but severe burning, swelling, rash worsening, or unbearable discomfort should not be ignored. Avoid scratching the area because repeated rubbing may increase inflammation and raise the risk of skin infection. Wearing loose cotton underwear, keeping the area dry, and washing clothes, towels, and bedsheets properly are important because scabies can spread through close contact and contaminated fabrics. Family members or close contacts may also need evaluation if they develop itching. Do not apply the lotion more often or in larger amounts than advised because excessive use may increase irritation further. If the cooling or irritation is mild and settles after some time, it may be temporary, but persistent discomfort should be reviewed. Consult your doctor if swelling, pus, fever, severe redness, or worsening rash develops despite treatment.
