I experience headaches during cold weather and also have a common cold. What could be the reason, and how should it be managed?
Headaches during cold weather, along with symptoms of a cold, are commonly due to sinus congestion or inflammation, such as Sinusitis, where blocked sinuses create pressure in the forehead, cheeks, or around the eyes, leading to headache. Cold air, dehydration, and viral infections like the common cold can also trigger or worsen these symptoms. Management includes simple measures like staying warm, drinking plenty of fluids, taking steam inhalation to relieve nasal blockage, and using saline nasal drops; paracetamol can help relieve headache and fever if needed. Avoid exposure to cold air, dust, and strong smells, and ensure adequate rest. If headaches are severe, persistent, associated with high fever, facial swelling, or do not improve within a few days, it is important to consult a doctor for further evaluation and appropriate treatment.
