Currently, there are no medications that can directly reverse diaphragm paralysis. Treatment focuses on relieving your symptoms. For immediate comfort, sleeping with your head elevated using a wedge pillow or a recliner is highly effective. If this is not enough, your doctor may recommend non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (like CPAP or BiPAP) to support your breathing while lying down. For persistent, disruptive symptoms, a surgical procedure called diaphragmatic plication can be performed to secure the paralyzed side, allowing the healthy lung to expand better.
