Chloramphenicol+sulphacetamide

Chloramphenicol+sulphacetamide is a prescription eye medicine used to treat bacterial eye infections, including bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye) and other superficial bacterial infections affecting the surface of the eye. It combines two antibiotics that work in different ways to stop the bacteria causing the infection, helping your eye heal while preventing the infection from spreading.

For the best results, use Chloramphenicol+sulphacetamide exactly as prescribed by your doctor, even if your symptoms begin to improve after a few days. Because this medicine is applied directly to the eye, food does not affect how it works. Good hand hygiene, avoiding touching your eyes, and keeping the affected eye clean can help speed recovery and reduce the risk of spreading the infection to others.

Some people may notice mild, temporary side effects such as a brief burning or stinging sensation, blurred vision immediately after application, or mild eye irritation. These effects usually settle within a few minutes. However, consult your doctor right away if you develop severe eye pain, worsening redness or swelling, changes in vision, or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as skin rash or swelling of the face or throat.

Do not use this medicine if you have previously experienced serious blood disorders, such as bone marrow suppression or aplastic anaemia, or if you are allergic to chloramphenicol, sulphacetamide, sulfonamide medicines, or any of the other ingredients in this product. Tell your doctor before starting treatment if you have severe dry eyes, wear contact lenses, have recently had eye surgery, or have any long-standing eye condition that requires regular specialist care.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, herbal products, and supplements you are using before starting treatment. If you use other eye medicines, leave enough time between applications so each medicine can work properly. If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, breastfeeding, or caring for an older adult, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
