Trinbelimab
About Trinbelimab
Trinbelimab is used to prevent Rh sensitization in Rh-negative individuals, especially during pregnancy and after certain medical procedures. Rh sensitization occurs when an Rh-negative individual is exposed to Rh-positive red blood cells, leading their immune system to produce antibodies against the Rh factor. This can happen during pregnancy if an Rh-negative mother carries an Rh-positive baby, or through blood transfusions with Rh-positive blood.
Trinbelimab contains Trinbelimad, which belongs to the class of drugs called immunoglobulins. It works by eliminating or neutralizing any Rh D-positive fetal red blood cells that may enter the Rh D-negative mother's bloodstream during childbirth, abortion, or any pregnancy-related complications that could cause bleeding across the placenta.
The dose and duration of treatment with Trinbelimab may vary depending on your medical condition. Trinbelimab usually does not have any known side effect. However, in some cases, it may cause some side effects, including local pain, fever, flushing, headache, and chills, which may occur after administration. Most of these side effects are temporary and resolve on their own. It is essential to consult your doctor if they persist or worsen over time.
Inform your doctor if you are allergic to Trinbelimab. Also inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking and about your pre-existing health conditions. Trinbelimab is for intramuscular use only, do not inject intravenously. It is for maternal administration. Do not inject the new-born infant. Trinbelimab is contraindicated in pregnant woman with positive ICT (Indirect Coombs' test) and Rh-D positive.
Uses of Trinbelimab
Medicinal Benefits
Trinbelimab is used to prevent Rh sensitization in individuals with Rh-negative blood. It is typically given to Rh-negative pregnant women within 72 hours after delivery if the baby is Rh-positive. This helps prevent the mother's immune system from reacting to Rh-positive red blood cells. Additionally, it is used in Rh-negative individuals who receive Rh-positive blood transfusions to prevent an immune reaction.

Disease/Condition Glossary
Rh sensitization: Rh sensitization occurs when an individual with Rh-negative blood is exposed to Rh-positive blood, triggering the production of antibodies against the Rh factor. This can happen during pregnancy, blood transfusions, or injuries that mix the two blood types. Initially, there are no noticeable symptoms. However, if sensitization occurs during pregnancy, it can lead to severe complications in future pregnancies. These complications can include jaundice, anemia, hydrops fetalis, and even stillbirth.
