About Vitcofol-HB Capsule

Vitcofol-HB Capsule is used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) that occurs due to iron deficiency and chronic kidney disease. Also, Vitcofol-HB Capsule is used to treat anaemia during pregnancy and lactation.

Vitcofol-HB Capsule is a combination of elemental iron, folic acid and glycine. Elemental iron and folic acid work by increasing red blood cell (RBC) and haemoglobin (a protein) production in the body. Glycine is used to synthesise proteins in the body.

In some cases, you may experience vomiting, nausea, stomach upset, or dark-colored stool. Most of these side effects of Vitcofol-HB Capsule do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Vitcofol-HB Capsule or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using Vitcofol-HB Capsule . Vitcofol-HB Capsule should be used with caution in children and only if recommended by a doctor.

  • Iron-Deficiency Anemia: Vitcofol-HB Capsule replenishes iron stores and boosts hemoglobin production and supports oxygen transport throughout the body.
  • Pregnancy & Lactation Support: Vitcofol-HB Capsule prevents anemia in mothers, supports fetal brain and spinal cord development and aids in protein synthesis for fetal growth.

  • Swallow Vitcofol-HB Capsule as a whole with a glass of water.
  • Do not crush, chew, or open it.

Storage

What if you forget to take Vitcofol-HB Capsule

If you forget to take a dose of Vitcofol-HB Capsule , take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Vitcofol-HB Capsule may have interaction with anticonvulsants (phenobarbital, primidone, phenytoin, sodium valproate, carbamazepine), antibiotics (chloramphenicol, cotrimoxazole, trimethoprim), antimanic drug (lithium), water tablet (triamterene), anti-inflammatory drug (sulfasalazine), painkillers (aspirin), anticancer drug (methotrexate).

Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid consuming dairy products, coffee, or tea with Vitcofol-HB Capsule at the same time, as they may reduce the absorption of Vitcofol-HB Capsule .

Drug-Disease Interaction: If you have a stomach ulcer, vitamin B12 deficiency, any blood disorder, repeated blood transfusions, ulcerative colitis (inflammation of the colon), pernicious anaemia (anaemia due to lack of vitamin B12) or folate-dependent tumour, inform your doctor before taking Vitcofol-HB Capsule .

You are not recommended to take Vitcofol-HB Capsule with coffee, tea or dairy products at the same time, as they may reduce the absorption of Vitcofol-HB Capsule . However, you may drink coffee or tea 2 hours before or after taking Vitcofol-HB Capsule .

You are not recommended to take Vitcofol-HB Capsule with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the concentration of Vitcofol-HB Capsule in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, please consult a doctor before taking Vitcofol-HB Capsule with phenytoin.

Vitcofol-HB Capsule is not recommended for patients with hemochromatosis (excessive iron in the body) as it may increase the risk of adverse effects. Therefore, it is advised to inform your doctor if you have any iron overload conditions before taking Vitcofol-HB Capsule .

Iron in Vitcofol-HB Capsule may turn the stools black. It is a common side effect of Vitcofol-HB Capsule and is not harmful.
