Ugesic Gel belongs to the group of medications known as NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) used to treat pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal disorders, including tenosynovitis, tendinitis, periarthritis, strains, sprains, and low back pain.

Ugesic Gel contains 'Piroxicam', which works by blocking the effect of a chemical messenger in the body, known as prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are produced at injury sites and cause pain and swelling. By blocking the effect of prostaglandins, Ugesic Gel helps treat mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the injured or damaged site.

Ugesic Gel is for external use only. In some cases, Ugesic Gel may cause common side effects such as mild skin irritation, redness, and itching. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to speak to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Do not use Ugesic Gel if you are allergic to any of its contents. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning for pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Ugesic Gel is not recommended for use in children. Stop using Ugesic Gel and consult your doctor immediately if you develop rashes, blisters, peeling of the skin, flu-like symptoms, ulcers in the mouth, nose, throat, connective tissue of the eye or reproductive organs.

• Use Ugesic Gel as advised by your doctor.
• Rub gel into the affected area until it disappears completely.
• Do not apply Ugesic Gel on damaged skin, such as wounds, dermatitis or infections.
• Do not apply Ugesic Gel near nose, eyes, mouth, genital or anal (bottom) areas. If the gel comes into contact with these areas, rinse away with water.
• Do not cover the treated area with dressings or bandages.

Do not use Ugesic Gel if you are allergic to any of its contents, if you are hypersensitive to acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs. Inform your doctor if you have/had peptic ulcers, heart surgery, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, stomach ulcers, bleeding problems, asthma, eczema, fluid retention, inflammatory bowel disease, kidney or liver problems. Consult a doctor before using Ugesic Gel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Ugesic Gel is not recommended for children. Inform your doctor if you are taking any NSAID/pain killers orally. Ugesic Gel may cause Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis. Stop using Ugesic Gel and consult your doctor immediately if you develop rashes, blisters, peeling of the skin, flu-like symptoms, ulcers in the mouth, nose, throat, connective tissue of the eye or reproductive organs.
