About Nefcit Tablet

Nefcit Tablet is used to treat iron deficiency and anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin). Iron deficiency occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor absorption of food or increased folate use in the body (during pregnancy). Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to various body tissues.

Nefcit Tablet contains 'Iron,' which is required by the red blood cells to carry oxygen to other body cells and tissues. It improves the quality of blood by increasing levels of haemoglobin (blood protein) and red blood cells.

In some cases, it may cause side effects like constipation, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, dark stools, loss of appetite, and upset stomach. Most of these side effects gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist, please consult your doctor.

If you are known to be allergic to Nefcit Tablet or its inactive components, please inform your doctor. Brief your medical history to the doctor if you have any heart/kidney/liver diseases, iron overload disorders like hemochromatosis, hemosiderosis, and intestinal problems (ulcer, colitis) before starting Nefcit Tablet .

  • Anaemia during pregnancy: Nefcit Tablet helps meet increased iron demands to maintain maternal and fetal health.
  • Nutritional deficiency: Nefcit Tablet is used to treat low iron levels due to inadequate dietary intake.
  • Menstrual blood loss: Nefcit Tablet replenishes iron lost during a heavy or prolonged menstruation period (menorrhagia).

Directions for Use

  • Nefcit Tablet can be taken with or without food, as advised by the physician.

What if I have taken an overdose of Nefcit Tablet

Take Nefcit Tablet only as suggested by the physician. Avoid exceeding the recommended dose as it could lead to an overdose. Symptoms of overdose may include upset stomach, constipation, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhoea. If you experience these symptoms or suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

How does the drug interact with Nefcit Tablet:
Taking dolutegravir with Nefcit Tablet can reduce the effectiveness of dolutegravir.

How to manage the interaction:
Although taking Dolutegravir and Nefcit Tablet together can possibly result in an interaction, they can be taken together if prescribed by your doctor. It is advised to take dolutegravir either two hours before or six hours after taking a dose of Nefcit Tablet. Do not discontinue using any medications without consulting a doctor.

Nefcit Tablet belongs to a class of haematinics; primarily used to treat iron deficiency and anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin).

Nefcit Tablet is a dietary supplement that contains Iron. It works by boosting the production of red blood cells (RBC) in the body, thus treating iron deficiency-associated anaemia.

It is recommended not to take Nefcit Tablet along with tea, coffee, or milk, and eggs since they might interfere with iron absorption from Nefcit Tablet .

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and follow your usual dosage. Do not double the dose.

Iron is best absorbed if taken on an empty stomach. However, in some patients, Nefcit Tablet may cause gastrointestinal disturbances, such as stomach upset, when taken without food. So, please take it as suggested by your doctor if you have stomach problems.

Nefcit Tablet may cause constipation as one of its side effects. Eating fibre-rich foods like vegetables, fresh fruits, and cereals, and drinking plenty of water can help relieve symptoms.

Antacids may interfere with the absorption of iron. Hence, it is advised to take Nefcit Tablet two hours before, or four hours after taking antacids.
