Kinphos Tablet is used to treat iron deficiency and anaemia (deficiency of red blood cells and haemoglobin). About Kinphos Tablet

Kinphos Tablet belongs to a class of 'haematinics,' primarily used to treat iron deficiency and anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin). Iron deficiency occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor absorption of food or increased folate use in the body (during pregnancy). Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells for carrying the adequate oxygen required to various body tissues.

Kinphos Tablet contains 'Ferric Citrate,' an essential body mineral. It is a nutritional supplement required by the red blood cells to carry oxygen to other body cells and tissues. By combining with a protein in the blood called haemoglobin, iron helps carry adequate oxygen to various body parts. Kinphos Tablet also has immunity-enhancing, anti-carcinogenic (preventing cancer), and cognition-enhancing properties.

Your doctor will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. In some cases, it may cause side effects like constipation, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, dark stools, loss of appetite, and upset stomach. Most of these side effects of Kinphos Tablet do not require any medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Kinphos Tablet or its inactive components, please inform your doctor. Kinphos Tablet is used in the management and treatment of Iron deficiency and anaemia. The detailed uses of Kinphos Tablet are as follows:<br/>• Phosphate Management in CKD Patients on Dialysis: Kinphos Tablet is used to control elevated phosphate levels (hyperphosphatemia) in patients with chronic kidney disease who are undergoing dialysis. It works by binding to phosphate in the gastrointestinal tract, limiting its absorption into the blood.<br/>• Iron Deficiency Anemia in CKD Patients Not on Dialysis: Kinphos Tablet is used to treat iron deficiency anemia in non-dialysis CKD patients. It provides absorbable iron to support red blood cell production and improve hemoglobin levels.<br/>

Directions for Use

• Kinphos Tablet can be taken with food to enhance its absorption.• Recommended to take three times daily or as advised by your doctor.• Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water.• Do not crush, break, or chew it.

What if I have taken an overdose of Kinphos Tablet

Please do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. Signs and symptoms of an overdose of Kinphos Tablet may include nausea, severe stomach pain, bloody diarrhea, coughing up blood or vomit, shallow breathing, weak and rapid pulse, pale skin, blue lips, seizure (convulsions), and fatal (especially in a young child). Seek immediate medical attention if you observe these symptoms or think you might have taken too much. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning.

How does the drug interact with Kinphos Tablet:
Taking dolutegravir with Kinphos Tablet can reduce the effectiveness of dolutegravir.

How to manage the interaction:
Although taking Dolutegravir and Kinphos Tablet together can possibly result in an interaction, they can be taken together if prescribed by your doctor. Kinphos Tablet is a dietary supplement that contains Ferric Citrate. It works by boosting the production of red blood cells (RBC) in the body, thus treating iron deficiency associated anaemia.

It is recommended not to take Kinphos Tablet with tea, coffee, milk, and eggs since they might interfere with iron absorption from Kinphos Tablet .

Kinphos Tablet is best absorbed if taken on an empty stomach. But in some patients, Kinphos Tablet may cause gastrointestinal disturbances like stomach upset when taken without food. So, please take it as suggested by your doctor if you have stomach problems.

Kinphos Tablet may cause constipation as one of its side effects. Eating fibre rich foods like vegetables, fresh fruits, and cereals and drinking plenty of water can help relieve symptoms.

Antacids may interfere with the absorption of iron. Hence it is advised to take Kinphos Tablet two hours before or four hours after taking antacids.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and follow your usual dosage. Do not double the dose.
