I have noticed swelling on the white part of my eye. What could be the cause and appropriate treatment?

Swelling on the white part of the eye is often due to a harmless condition like Conjunctival chemosis (fluid buildup from allergy, irritation, or infection) or a small growth like a cyst, and it may be triggered by dust, rubbing, dryness, or minor infection. Treatment usually includes lubricating eye drops, avoiding rubbing, protecting the eyes from dust and allergens, and sometimes anti-allergy or antibiotic drops if prescribed by a doctor. Most cases improve within a few days, but you should see an eye specialist if the swelling is painful, persists beyond a week, affects vision, or is associated with redness, discharge, or injury, so that the exact cause can be identified and treated appropriately.
The upper part of my right eye appears red. What might be causing this and what should I do?

Redness in the upper part of one eye is commonly due to mild causes like irritation, dryness, allergy, or a small burst blood vessel (subconjunctival haemorrhage), and it can also occur with conditions like conjunctivitis or eyelid inflammation. In most cases it improves with simple care such as avoiding eye rubbing, using lubricating eye drops, keeping the eye clean, and protecting it from dust or smoke, but you should see an eye doctor if the redness lasts more than a few days, is associated with pain, discharge, swelling, vision changes, or follows an injury, as you may need specific treatment like anti-allergy or antibiotic drops. Meanwhile, avoid self-medicating with over-the-counter steroid drops unless prescribed, as they can worsen certain conditions.
