About Gamabit Lotion

Gamabit Lotion belongs to the group of topical medications used to treat scabies. It is also used to kill head lice. Scabies is a contagious and itchy skin condition caused by tiny mites that form burrows in the skin and produce severe itching.

Gamabit Lotion is composed of Lindane and Cetrimide. Gamabit Lotion is an insecticide mixture that helps in killing the pathogens that cause scabies and is also used to kill head/pubic lice and their eggs by causing paralysis of the causative micro-organisms.

In some cases, Gamabit Lotion may cause specific, very occasional side effects, such as itching, temporary stinging or redness, and dry skin. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your physician if you experience these side effects consistently.

Inform the physician if you are allergic to any of its components. Inform your doctor of any history or presence of crusted scabies, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Consult your doctor before using Gamabit Lotion if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Uses of Gamabit Lotion

Gamabit Lotion is used in the treatment of Scabies and Lice. The detailed uses of Gamabit Lotion are as follows:<br/>• Kills Lice & Scabies Mites: Gamabit Lotion acts as a neurotoxin, paralyzing and eliminating parasites.<br/>• Destroys Eggs: Gamabit Lotion prevents reinfestation by targeting lice and mite eggs.<br/>• Soothes Skin Irritation: Gamabit Lotion reduces itching, redness, and discomfort.<br/>

Directions for Use

  • Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication to ensure safe and effective use.
  • Check the label for directions and apply the medication to the affected area as directed by your physician.
  • Do not take a bath after applying. Leave it in for at least 8-12 hours, then wash it off with lukewarm water.
  • Avoid contact of Gamabit Lotion with your eyes, nostrils or mouth. Rinse with water thoroughly if contact occurs.

Gamabit Lotion is a skin medicine that has antiparasitic properties. It contains Lindane and Cetrimide. Gamabit Lotion is used to relieve the pain, discomfort and itchiness caused by skin infections such as scabies. Lindane shows insecticidal (insect-killing) properties. It exerts a neurotoxic effect on the nerve cells of the causative organism and causes paralysis and death of the insect and its eggs. Cetrimide functions as an antiseptic by virtue of its bactericidal and insecticidal nature. It also exhibits detergent and emulsifying qualities that enhance its surface action, thereby relieving itching, redness, inflammation, and irritation of the skin. Gamabit Lotion is hence used to treat surface-level itches and superficial infections.

What if I have taken an overdose of Gamabit Lotion

Never use more than the suggested amount of Gamabit Lotion. Even though overdose poisoning from Gamabit Lotion is not a frequently reported incident, proactive case management is necessary from a life-saving standpoint. When used alone, lindane is linked to purposeful adverse effects that include anaemia, hyperglycemia, pulmonary oedema, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, cramping in the muscles, seizures, and even death. Furthermore, there are adverse effects associated with cetrimide, including nausea, vomiting, oesophageal damage, necrosis, and abdominal pain. Notably, neither of these toxins has an antidote. If you experience any serious side effects, seek emergency medical help.

Drug Warnings

Gamabit Lotion should not be used in case of any known allergy to either of the components. Discuss your medical history with your physician and inform them of any history of seizures, epilepsy, alcoholism, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, crusted scabies, liver disease or HIV. Inform the physician about your weight and also your previous history of use of Gamabit Lotion. Gamabit Lotion should be used with caution in those weighing less than 50 kg. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant and breastfeeding.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • All recently used underwear, clothing, and bedding should be washed thoroughly with hot water or dry cleaned.
  • Anything that cannot be washed (such as furniture) should be thoroughly vacuumed or kept in plastic for at least a week. The mites cannot survive beyond a week.  
  • Neem leaves and essential oils, such as tea tree, clove, and turmeric, combined with white vinegar and aloe vera, can be very effective in treating scabies when applied topically.
  • Yoghurt is rich in essential nutrients such as calcium, vitamin B2, vitamin B12 and magnesium. Load up on yoghurt and fish in your diet as a means of relief from all the itchiness.
  • To prevent head lice, avoid bumping heads or any head-to-head activities. Do not share towels and brushes.
  • Do not share any personal items or bedding that have come into contact with the affected person.
  • Avoid holding hands with the affected person.
