Ferrofit drops are a combination of essential minerals and vitamins. It is useful for treating iron deficiency anaemia associated with dietary inadequacy in children. Besides this, it helps for rapid growth and weight gain in children, improving general metabolism and increasing appetite. The key ingredients are ferric ammonium citrate, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid and Zinc.

• Avoid calcium with your dose: Do not consume dairy products (like milk, yoghurt, or cheese), calcium supplements, or antacids within two hours of taking your medicine, as calcium blocks iron absorption.
• Limit tea and coffee: Tannins found in tea and coffee can bind to iron and prevent your body from absorbing it properly. Try to avoid these beverages close to your dosing time.
• Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day and eat high-fibre foods to help prevent constipation, which is a common effect of iron supplementation.

• Expect dark stools: Do not be alarmed if your stool turns dark green or black; this is a common and safe effect of unabsorbed iron.
• Check liquid forms if suggested: If you are using a liquid form of this supplement, it may temporarily stain your teeth. You can mix it with water or fruit juice and drink it through a straw to prevent staining.
• Space out other medicines: Always separate your dose of Ferrofit Drops from other medicines, especially thyroid medicines and certain antibiotics, by at least 2 hours.
• Monitor your blood work: Keep all appointments for blood tests so your doctor can track your iron and vitamin levels to determine how long you need to stay on this therapy.
