About Ferikind Suspension

Ferikind Suspension belongs to a class of medications called haematinics, primarily used to treat anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin). Iron deficiency occurs mainly due to a poor diet or poor dietary absorption.

Ferikind Suspension contains Elemental Iron and Folic acid. Elemental iron helps with the transportation of oxygen throughout the body and the production of red blood cells. Folic acid helps boost the production of red blood cells (RBCs) in the body. Together, Ferikind Suspension helps treat anaemia.

Ferikind Suspension may cause side effects like constipation, dry mouth, loss of appetite, bloating, and diarrhoea in some cases. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and typically resolve on their own over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

What if I have taken an overdose of Ferikind Suspension

Do not take more than the advised dose of Ferikind Suspension as it may cause overdose. The symptoms of overdose include vomiting, nausea, epigastric pain, rectal bleeding or vomiting of blood. If you suspect you have taken overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Drug Warnings

  • Do not take Ferikind Suspension if you are allergic to Ferikind Suspension , iron, folic acid, or any of the ingredients of Ferikind Suspension .
  • Tell your doctor about all the medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, and herbal products.
  • Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.
  • Ferikind Suspension is generally given at least 4 weeks before pregnancy and continued for up to 3 months of pregnancy.

  • If you have had any part of the stomach removed, please inform your doctor before taking Ferikind Suspension .

  • Eat a healthy diet, especially green leafy vegetables, and do regular physical exercise.
  • Limit the consumption of alcohol, junk food items from outside and stick to freshly prepared home-cooked meals.

It is recommended not to take Ferikind Suspension along with tea, coffee, or milk, and even eggs as the body might absorb less iron supplements if you take them together, which may reduce the effectiveness of Ferikind Suspension .

Ferikind Suspension is best absorbed if taken on an empty stomach. But in some patients, it causes an upset stomach if taken empty stomach. So, please take it as suggested by your doctor if you have an upset stomach problem.

Folic acid is rich in various foods like broccoli, brussels sprouts, liver, spinach, and asparagus, while iron is found in dark-green leafy vegetables, fortified cereals, nuts, and dried fruit. To maintain a healthy and balanced diet, include all major food groups, especially those containing vitamin c, as it aids iron absorption.

The side effects of Ferikind Suspension are constipation, dry mouth, loss of appetite, bloating, and diarrhoea. If any of these persist or worsen consult your doctor.
