The condom broke during intercourse, and I am worried about getting pregnant. I am currently taking Novelon tablets to regulate my periods, so is there still a risk of pregnancy, and what emergency contraceptive medicine should I take to prevent it?
Since you are taking Novelon regularly, you are already highly protected against pregnancy, even if the condom breaks. If you have been taking your tablets consistently every day without missing any doses, your risk of pregnancy is extremely low, and you do not need emergency contraception. However, if you have missed any pills recently, started the pack late, or experienced severe vomiting/diarrhoea, your protection may be reduced. In that case, you can take a Levonorgestrel-based emergency contraceptive pill within 72 hours of intercourse. Continue taking your regular Novelon tablets as scheduled and consult your gynaecologist to confirm.
