Do not start any new medication on your own. Instead, practice good oral hygiene by gently brushing your tongue with a soft toothbrush or using a tongue scraper, and rinse your mouth frequently with water. If the coating is painful, presents as thick white patches, or persists after you finish your Metrogyl course, please consult your doctor. They can examine your mouth and prescribe an antifungal medication if oral thrush is confirmed.

Strong anti-diarrheal medications should be avoided during pregnancy. Instead, concentrate on remaining hydrated with ORS, clear fluids, and light, bland foods. Your OB-GYN should prescribe any medicine, however your doctor may suggest pregnancy-safe alternatives like probiotics or paracetamol for discomfort if necessary.

Avoid self-medicating and concentrate on staying hydrated, eating light meals, and avoiding bland foods when your stomach is disturbed so close to birth. Before taking any medication, speak with your OB-GYN because some medications might not be safe to use in the latter stages of pregnancy.
