Zonticin Eye/Ear Drop is an antibiotic used to treat eye and ear infections caused by bacteria such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, otitis externa (inflammation of the ear), and corneal ulcers. Directions for Use

What if you forget to take Zonticin Eye/Ear Drop

Storage

• Store Zonticin Eye/Ear Drop at room temperature, ideally between 15°C and 25°C. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

It is generally recommended not to wear contact lenses while treating an eye infection with Zonticin Eye/Ear Drop. Remove your contact lenses before applying the drops and avoid wearing them until your doctor says it is safe. If you normally wear contact lenses, wash your hands before and after using the drops and follow your doctor's advice about when to resume wearing them.
Some formulations of Zonticin Eye/Ear Drop are designed for both eye and ear use, but you must only do this if the product label specifically says it is for eye/ear use and your doctor has instructed you to do so. Never use ear-only drops in your eyes, as they can cause severe damage. Talk to your pharmacist if you are unsure.
These drops may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after application. If this happens, do not drive, operate machinery, or perform any tasks that require clear vision until your sight has returned to normal. Talk to your doctor if your vision remains blurry.
Most people start to feel relief within 24 to 48 hours of starting the drops. However, even if your symptoms improve quickly, you must finish the entire course prescribed by your doctor to make sure the infection is completely gone. If your symptoms do not improve after a few days, talk to your doctor.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, only use this medication if your doctor decides it is absolutely necessary. While very little of the drug enters your bloodstream from eye or ear drops, it is always safest to talk to your doctor before starting any new medication.
A mild, temporary stinging or burning sensation is very common and usually lasts for only a minute or two after application. However, if the stinging is severe, gets worse, or is accompanied by swelling and redness, you should stop using the drops and talk to your doctor right away.
Stopping the drops too early can leave some of the strongest bacteria alive. These surviving bacteria can multiply, causing the infection to return, and they may become resistant to the antibiotic. Always finish the exact course prescribed, and talk to your pharmacist if you have questions.
Once opened, a bottle of Zonticin Eye/Ear Drop should typically be discarded after 4 weeks (28 days). This is because bacteria can enter the bottle during use and contaminate the liquid, which could cause a new infection if used later. Talk to your pharmacist about proper disposal of expired drops.
