Ximep Tablet works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell covering, necessary for their survival. Thereby, kills the bacteria.
Ximep Tablet may cause Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD). Treatment with antibiotics alters the normal flora leading to overgrowth of Clostridium difficile; this causes diarrhoea. Drink lots of fluids and eat food rich in fibre if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or if you experience prolonged diarrhoea with abdominal pain, stop taking Ximep Tablet and consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.
Do not stop taking Ximep Tablet despite symptomatic relief. To treat your condition effectively, continue taking Ximep Tablet for as long as it has been prescribed for you.
Do not take Ximep Tablet on your own, as self-medication may lead to antibiotic resistance, in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections.
Ximep Tablet usually begins to work soon after taking it. However, it may take few days to kill all the harmful bacteria and make you feel better.
If you don't feel better after completing the full course of treatment with Ximep Tablet , inform your doctor. Also, let your doctor know if your symptoms are worsening while taking Ximep Tablet .
The use of Ximep Tablet is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to Penicillins or any excipients in Ximep Tablet . It should also be avoided by patients with a previous history of liver damage associated with Ximep Tablet .
No, you are recommended not to take oral contraceptive pills while taking Ximep Tablet as it may reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills. Therefore, discuss with your doctor about using a birth control method which does not affect your hormone levels (such as a diaphragm, condom, and spermicide).
No, do not take higher than the recommended dose of Ximep Tablet as it may increase the risks of side effects. If your symptoms worsen while taking Ximep Tablet , please consult the doctor.
