About Vitrex Capsule

Vitrex Capsule is used along with ultraviolet light for the treatment of vitiligo. It is also used to treat psoriasis (a skin condition). Vitiligo is a skin condition in which the skin loses colour (melanocytes) and results in discoloured patches in different areas of the body, including the skin, hair, and mucous membranes.

Vitrex Capsule contains trioxsalen, which works by activating certain skin cells (melanocytes) and helps to repigment the discoloured and white patches.

Vitrex Capsule may cause common side effects such as erythema (skin redness), blisters, oedema (swelling), and itching. These side effects resolve on their own. However, if it persists, stop using Vitrex Capsule and consult your physician.

Vitrex Capsule should not be taken if you are allergic to it. Inform to your physician if you are pregnant/breastfeeding. Vitrex Capsule should be used with caution in patients who have allergies to sunlight, porphyria, heart/ liver disease, stomach problems, cataracts, skin cancers and lupus erythematosus.

Vitrex Capsule is used in the treatment of Vitiligo and psoriasis. The detailed use of Vitrex Capsule is as follows:

Vitiligo Treatment: Vitrex Capsule is used in vitiligo treatment in conjunction with ultraviolet A (UVA) light therapy (PUVA) to promote re-pigmentation of affected skin areas, helping to restore skin colour and improve appearance.
Management of psoriasis: Vitrex Capsule slows down the excessive growth of skin cells.

Vitrex Capsule can be taken with meals or milk to prevent stomach upset, or as advised by the doctor.

If you suspect that you may have overdosed of Vitrex Capsule or observe any side effects, please go to the emergency department of the closest hospital or nursing home. No specific side effects have been reported under these circumstances.

Protect lips and uncovered parts of the body with sunblock medications. Sunblock products (sunscreen lotions) should not be used on the areas of the skin that are to be treated. Use wraparound sunglasses.
