• Avoid direct sunlight: Stay indoors and avoid direct sunlight for exactly 5 days after your treatment. Do not use tanning beds during this time.
• Protect your skin: If you must go outside during the first 5 days, wear protective clothing, including long sleeves, pants, gloves, and a wide-brimmed hat. Normal sunscreens will not protect your skin from reactions caused by this medicine.
• Protect your eyes: Wear dark, professional-grade sunglasses that block ultraviolet and visible light when outdoors or in bright indoor spaces for 5 days.
• Manage indoor lighting: Avoid bright halogen lights or high-intensity examination lights. Use normal indoor lighting, as staying in complete darkness is not recommended; mild indoor light actually helps break down the medicine in your skin safely.

• Check for leakage during infusion: Tell your doctor or nurse immediately if you feel any burning, stinging, or pain in your arm while the injection is being given. If the medicine leaks into the surrounding tissue, it can cause severe light-induced burns and tissue damage.
• Wear your light-sensitivity wristband: You may be given a wristband or warning card to wear after treatment to remind healthcare workers of your temporary sensitivity to bright light in case of an emergency.
