About Trigaine Forte Lotion

Trigaine Forte Lotion belongs to a class of medicines called dermatologicals used to treat male or female pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia). Alopecia (hair loss) is the thinning or loss of hair on the scalp or any part of the body. Androgenetic alopecia is the permanent hair loss from the scalp that causes baldness. Hair loss can be due to heredity, hormonal changes, medical conditions or a normal part of ageing.

Trigaine Forte Lotion is a combination of three drugs, namely: Hydrocortisone (corticosteroid), Minoxidil (vasodilator) and Tretinoin (a form of vitamin A). Hydrocortisone inhibits the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching and swelling of the scalp. Minoxidil widens the blood vessels and improves blood circulation to the hair follicles. Thus, it prevents hair loss and stimulates hair growth. Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A that promotes hair follicles growth on the scalp.

You are advised to use Trigaine Forte Lotion for as long as your doctor has recommended it for you based on your condition. In some cases, you may experience headache, itching, rash or redness at the site of application. Most of these side effects of Trigaine Forte Lotion do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor. 

If you are allergic to Trigaine Forte Lotion or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Trigaine Forte Lotion is not recommended for children unless advised by a doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult a doctor before using Trigaine Forte Lotion. What if I have taken an overdose of Trigaine Forte Lotion

Do not apply Trigaine Forte Lotion in large amounts or use it for a long time than recommended, as it does not give quick or better results but increases the risk of side effects.

If you are allergic to Trigaine Forte Lotion or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Trigaine Forte Lotion is not recommended for children unless advised by a doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult a doctor before using Trigaine Forte Lotion. You are recommended to avoid using Trigaine Forte Lotion if your scalp is irritated, infected, painful, inflamed or red. Keep the container away from high heat or open flame as it may explode if it gets too hot. Avoid contact of Trigaine Forte Lotion with eyes. If it comes in contact with eyes accidentally, rinse with large amounts of cool tap water. If you experience unwanted facial hair growth, scalp redness or irritation, swelling in hands and legs, avoid using Trigaine Forte Lotion and consult a doctor. You are recommended to avoid washing your hair or using a hairdryer for 4 hours after applying Trigaine Forte Lotion.

  • Avoid overusing styling tools like blow dryers, curling rods and chemical dying, which can cause loss of natural hair oils and cause hair fall.
  • Regular oiling helps in the blood circulation of the scalp and nourishes the roots.
  • Wash your hair three times a week with a good shampoo and conditioner to reduce hair fall.
  • Practise yoga and meditation to control stress.
