About Tesunate SP Junior Kit
Tesunate SP Junior Kit belongs to a group of anti-malarial drugs used to treat uncomplicated falciparum malaria. Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease caused by the female anopheles mosquito. Malaria is transmitted through the bite of infected mosquitoes, which carry the Plasmodium parasite. The symptoms usually develop within 10 days to 4 weeks after the infection.
Tesunate SP Junior Kit is a combination medicine that contains Artesunate, Pyrimethamine, and Sulphadoxine. Artesunate generates free radicals, thereby inhibiting nucleic acid and protein synthesis of the Plasmodium parasites during erythrocytic stages. Pyrimethamine binds to haem and forms a complex which is toxic to the malarial parasite. Sulphadoxine prevents the parasite from producing folinic acid, which is necessary for their multiplication. Together, Tesunate SP Junior Kit helps in treating malaria.
Take Tesunate SP Junior Kit with food. It is advised to take Tesunate SP Junior Kit for as long as your doctor has prescribed, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, Tesunate SP Junior Kit may cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, headache, diarrhoea, and fatigue. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Consult your doctor before taking Tesunate SP Junior Kit if you are pregnant. Avoid breastfeeding while taking Tesunate SP Junior Kit. Tesunate SP Junior Kit may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Tesunate SP Junior Kit should be given to children only if prescribed by the doctor. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Tesunate SP Junior Kit as it could lead to increased dizziness.
