About Telura Tablet

Telura Tablet belongs to the class of ‘antiretrovirals,’ used to treat HIV infection. Telura Tablet helps in decreasing the chance of developing AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that attacks the immune system and destroys the white blood cells that help in fighting infection, making the individual susceptible to other infections or illnesses.

Telura Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Efavirenz, Lamivudine, and Tenofovir disoproxil. Efavirenz is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor. Lamivudine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor. Tenofovir disoproxil is a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor. They work by inhibiting the reverse transcriptase enzyme, which is essential for the reproduction of the virus. 

Your doctor will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. Sometimes, Telura Tablet may have common side effects like nausea, headache, dizziness, depression, sleeping problems, weakness, tiredness, cough, rash, unusual dreams, concentration problems, drowsiness (sleepiness), and diarrhoea. What if I have taken an overdose of Telura Tablet

Take Telura Tablet only as prescribed by the physician. Avoid exceeding the recommended dose as it could lead to an overdose. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, trouble concentrating, sleepiness, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, unusual dreams, hallucinations, uncontrolled muscle movements or shaking. If you experience these symptoms or suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

What if you forget to take Telura Tablet

If you miss a dose of Telura Tablet and less than 12 hours have passed, take it as soon as you remember and continue with the next dose as scheduled. If more than 12 hours have passed, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Pregnant women should consult their doctor before taking Telura Tablet . It is not recommended to breastfeed while using Telura Tablet since it excretes into the breast milk. Telura Tablet may cause dizziness/drowsiness, so do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you feel dizzy or drowsy.

Telura Tablet may cause bone problems, such as osteonecrosis (death of bone tissue due to loss of blood supply to the bone), especially in HIV patients taking combination antiretroviral therapy. If you experience any joint pains, stiffness (especially shoulder, knee or hip) or difficulty in movement, please consult a doctor immediately.

HIV infection may still be transmitted to other persons while using Telura Tablet . Telura Tablet reduces the risk of transmission; however, HIV infection is still contagious. Therefore, discuss with a doctor for precautions to avoid transmission of HIV while being treated with Telura Tablet .

Telura Tablet does not cure HIV infection. Telura Tablet reduces the activity of HIV in the body and improves the functioning of the immune system.

Telura Tablet may cause lactic acidosis (excess of lactic acid in the blood), a rare but severe side effect, especially in women who are very obese and in people with liver diseases.
