SUCOL INJECTION is used to produce rapid, temporary muscle relaxation during medical procedures. The following are the main situations in which it is commonly used: 

• Breathing tube insertion (intubation): SUCOL INJECTION relaxes the throat and vocal cord muscles quickly, allowing your doctor to safely place a breathing tube into your airway during emergencies or surgery.
• General anaesthesia support: It relaxes skeletal muscles during surgical operations, making it easier and safer for the surgeon to perform the procedure.
• Mechanical ventilation support: It helps ease muscle resistance in critically ill patients who require a machine to help them breathe in an intensive care setting.
• Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT): It prevents severe, involuntary muscle contractions and potential physical injuries during specialised psychiatric treatments.

SUCOL INJECTION provides several important benefits during emergency care, surgery, and other medical procedures by producing rapid, short-lasting muscle relaxation, including:

• Rapid onset of muscle relaxation: The medicine begins working within about one minute of injection, making it especially valuable when urgent airway management or emergency procedures are required.
• Short duration of action: Its muscle-relaxing effects usually wear off naturally within 5 to 10 minutes, allowing normal muscle function and breathing to return soon after the procedure.
• Supports safe medical procedures: By providing complete but temporary muscle relaxation, SUCOL INJECTION helps make procedures such as intubation, surgery, mechanical ventilation, and electroconvulsive therapy safer and easier to perform.

• Follow your doctor’s instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
• SUCOL INJECTION will be administered by the doctor or nurse.
• Do not self-administer.

• Follow fasting instructions: Strictly follow your doctor's fasting guidelines, which usually require no food or drink for 6 to 8 hours before your procedure, to reduce the risk of aspiration during anaesthesia.
• Rest after the procedure: Rest completely for at least 24 hours after receiving anaesthesia and muscle relaxants to allow your body to recover.
• Stay well-hydrated: Once your doctor allows you to drink fluids, drink plenty of water to help ease post-operative muscle soreness and support recovery.
• Avoid strenuous activities: Do not perform heavy lifting, vigorous exercise, drive, or operate machinery for at least 24 to 48 hours, or until your doctor confirms it is safe.

• Inspect the solution: Your healthcare provider should ensure the solution is clear, colourless, and free from visible particles before administration.
• Report anaesthesia reactions: Tell your anaesthesiologist if you or any close family member has ever experienced a serious reaction to anaesthesia, such as malignant hyperthermia.
• Discuss your medical history: Inform your healthcare team if you have kidney disease, severe burns, nerve injuries, or muscle disorders, as these conditions may increase the risk of high blood potassium levels.
• Expect continuous monitoring: Your heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and oxygen levels will be closely monitored while the medicine is active.
• Arrange assistance after the procedure: Ensure a responsible adult accompanies you home and stays with you after your procedure, as anaesthesia and muscle relaxants may temporarily impair your coordination, reflexes, and judgement.
