Silodozen-8 Capsule is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate, a condition medically known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It helps relieve bothersome urinary symptoms such as a weak stream, difficulty starting urination, and the frequent or urgent need to urinate. This medication does not shrink the prostate but works by relaxing the surrounding muscles to make urination much easier.
To get the best results, you must take Silodozen-8 Capsule consistently every day exactly as your doctor prescribes, usually once daily. It is highly recommended to take this medication with a meal to help your body absorb it properly and to reduce the risk of sudden blood pressure drops or dizziness. Combining this daily treatment with simple lifestyle adjustments, like limiting evening fluids, can further improve your comfort and quality of life.
Many men tolerate this medication well, but some may experience mild side effects such as dizziness, a stuffy nose, or a temporary, harmless decrease in semen during climax. If you experience serious side effects like severe dizziness, fainting, or signs of an allergic reaction, you should seek immediate medical attention. Always keep your healthcare team informed of any unusual changes you notice.
Talk to your doctor before starting Silodozen-8 Capsule if you have a history of kidney or liver problems. Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney damage or severe liver damage. Additionally, you should not start this medication if you are planning to undergo cataract or glaucoma surgery in the near future, as it can affect your eyes during the procedure.
This medicine can interact with other treatments, particularly blood pressure medications and certain erectile dysfunction drugs, which can cause your blood pressure to drop too low. It is not intended for use in women or children. Elderly individuals should consult their doctor before taking Silodozen-8 Capsule , as they may be more sensitive to side effects like dizziness and fall risks.

Silodozen-8 Capsule is used to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia - BPH) in men.
Silodozen-8 Capsule works by blocking the receptors (alpha 1) on the prostate gland, bladder and urethra (urine pipe), thereby relaxing the muscles of the bladder and prostate. This helps in relieving the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia and makes it easier to pass urine.
Silodozen-8 Capsule may cause dizziness and drowsiness in rare cases. So, drive only if you are alert and avoid driving and operating machinery if you feel dizzy or drowsy.
Diarrhoea might be a side-effect of Silodozen-8 Capsule . Drink lots of fluids and eat non-spicy food if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or if you experience excess diarrhoea, consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.
Orthostatic hypotension could be a side-effect of Silodozen-8 Capsule . Orthostatic hypotension is a sudden lowering in blood pressure leading to dizziness on standing. If you experience this, do not try to stand up suddenly or start walking, instead lie down and get up slowly only when you feel better. People taking Silodozen-8 Capsule are advised to regularly monitor their blood pressure levels to avoid such unpleasant events.
Do not take Silodozen-8 Capsule after expiry. Expiry refers to the last date the manufacturer guarantees the potency (strength) of the medicine. Check the expiry date regularly and dispose of the medicine properly post expiry date.
Silodozen-8 Capsule contains Silodosin, which belongs to the group of medicines called alpha-blockers used to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia).
Consult the doctor before taking sildenafil with Silodozen-8 Capsule as combining these two medicines can lower the blood pressure and increase the risk of lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting, headache, flushing and nasal congestion.
Side effects of Silodozen-8 Capsule include ejaculation disorders (orgasm with reduced or no sperm), dizziness, diarrhoea, stuffy nose (nasal congestion), and orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering in blood pressure leading to dizziness on standing). Talk to your doctor if any of the side effects persist or worsen.
Many patients begin to notice an improvement in their urinary flow and a reduction in urgency within 1 to 7 days of starting the medication. However, it may take a few weeks of consistent daily use to experience the full benefits. Talk to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.
Yes. A common side effect of Silodozen-8 Capsule is ejaculation disorder, which may result in reduced semen volume, absence of semen during orgasm (retrograde ejaculation or anejaculation), or changes in sexual satisfaction. In some individuals, erectile function may also be affected. These effects are generally temporary and usually resolve after stopping the medication. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns about sexual side effects.
Take Silodozen-8 Capsule once daily with a meal, preferably at the same meal each day. Some people prefer taking it with the evening meal if they experience dizziness, but you should follow your doctor's recommendation.
While Silodozen-8 Capsule is primarily used to treat urinary symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), it can occasionally lower blood pressure, particularly when standing up suddenly. This may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting (orthostatic hypotension). Rise slowly from sitting or lying positions and consult your doctor if symptoms occur. Silodozen-8 Capsule does not typically cause high blood pressure.
It is highly recommended to avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking Silodozen-8 Capsule . Alcohol can worsen side effects like drowsiness, lightheadedness, and sudden drops in blood pressure. Talk to your doctor for personalised safety advice.
Inform your eye surgeon if you are taking or have previously taken Silodozen-8 Capsule before cataract or glaucoma surgery. This medicine may affect the iris during surgery and increase the risk of intraoperative floppy iris syndrome (IFIS). Your surgeon can take appropriate precautions if informed beforehand.
Yes. Silodozen-8 Capsule is generally intended for long-term use to control symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Continue taking it for as long as your doctor recommends. Regular follow-up appointments may be needed to monitor your symptoms and overall health.
No, Silodozen-8 Capsule does not shrink or cure an enlarged prostate. Instead, it manages and relieves the uncomfortable urinary symptoms caused by the enlargement by relaxing the surrounding muscles. Talk to your doctor about comprehensive long-term management strategies for BPH.
