Diarrhoea of Mixed Infections is a condition where multiple pathogens (bacteria, viruses, or protozoa) infect the gut simultaneously, causing more severe or prolonged symptoms. Treatment often involves combining antimicrobial agents to target various pathogens.

Satrogyl-O Dry Syrup combines Ofloxacin and Satranidazole. It treats diarrhoea caused by mixed infections. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, stops bacterial growth, while Satranidazole targets protozoa and anaerobic bacteria by damaging their DNA, together providing effective relief by eliminating the infection-causing germs.

Your doctor will determine the dose and duration of Satrogyl-O Dry Syrup based on your medical condition. Satrogyl-O Dry Syrup is generally safe to use. However, some individuals may experience side effects, including vomiting, nausea, weight loss, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, headache, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), dizziness, a metallic taste, and skin rash. Most of these side effects of Satrogyl-O Dry Syrup do not require medical attention and typically resolve on their own over time. If these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Satrogyl-O Dry Syrup or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Do not suddenly stop taking this medicine to avoid unpleasant side effects and sudden withdrawal symptoms. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery after taking Satrogyl-O Dry Syrup as it may cause dizziness. • Gently tap the bottle to loosen the powder. Add about half the amount of freshly boiled and cooled water. Shake well to mix the powder, then add the remaining water up to the marked line and shake again thoroughly. Administer it orally.

Satrogyl-O Dry Syrup contains Ofloxacin and Satranidazole. Ofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme required for replicating, transcription, and repairing the DNA. Satranidazole is an anti-amoebic, antiprotozoal, and antibacterial medicine effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It kills harmful anaerobic bacteria and certain anaerobic protozoa (Trichomonas vaginalis, Entamoeba histolytica, and Giardia lamblia), causing diarrhoea. It is bactericidal, killing harmful bacteria and parasites (such as amoebas) by damaging their DNA. It also prevents the division of bacterial cells and inhibits the repair of bacterial cells.

Satrogyl-O Dry Syrup should be avoided for patients with a known history of myasthenia gravis. Report symptoms like dizziness, confusion, or seizures, as the medicine may affect the nervous system. Stop using the medicine and seek help immediately if you develop a rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty, as this may signal a severe allergic reaction. Notify your doctor if you have severe or ongoing diarrhoea, as it may indicate a serious gut infection. Inform your doctor of any liver, kidney, or existing health conditions.
