About Sac Sachet

Sac Sachet is indicated in the treatment of diarrhoea in children. It may also be used to treat antibiotic-associated diarrhoea and gastroenteritis (stomach flu). Diarrhoea is a condition in which bowel movements are too frequent, leading to loose, watery stools.

Sac Sachet contains Saccharomyces boulardii, a probiotic which works by destroying harmful bacteria that cause diarrhoea. Thereby, it helps treat diarrhoea in children. It also helps restore the balance of gut microflora, enhances immune response and combats gastrointestinal disorders.

Sometimes, Sac Sachet may cause side effects such as gas or bloating. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if they persist or worsen, contact the doctor.

What if I have taken an overdose of Sac Sachet

Avoid exceeding the recommended dose as it might cause an overdose. Consult the doctor if you think the child has taken an overdose or if the child has any unusual symptoms.

Drug Warnings

Do not administer Sac Sachet if the child is allergic to Saccharomyces boulardii or any of its components.
Inform the doctor if the child has any existing kidney or liver problems.
Notify the doctor if the child has symptoms such as blood or black stools, fever, mucus in stool, or if diarrhoea lasts more than 24–48 hours.
Please inform the doctor know if the child is taking any other medications, including over-the-counter drugs, herbal products, or vitamin/mineral supplements.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

Ensure the child stays well-hydrated by providing fluids such as oral rehydration solution (ORS), coconut water, or clear soups.
Avoid giving sugary drinks, fruit juices, or carbonated beverages, as they can worsen diarrhoea.
Offer easily digestible foods such as bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, and boiled potatoes.
Avoid milk and other dairy products temporarily, as they may be hard to digest during diarrhoea.
Avoid giving spicy, oily, or fried foods, as they can irritate the stomach and prolong symptoms.
Serve small, frequent meals instead of large portions to facilitate easier digestion.
Teach and maintain proper handwashing before meals and after using the toilet to prevent reinfection.
Ensure the child gets enough rest to aid the body's recovery.
Avoid giving antibiotics or over-the-counter antidiarrheal medicines without a doctor's advice.
Monitor the child's symptoms and consult a doctor if diarrhoea lasts more than 48 hours or if there are signs of dehydration.
