Retof Eye/Ear Drop is used to treat bacterial eye infections, including conjunctivitis and ulcers of the cornea. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid.
Retof Eye/Ear Drop contains Ofloxacin, which works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) that is involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, it kills bacteria and clears infection.
Use Retof Eye/Ear Drop as prescribed by your doctor. Retof Eye/Ear Drop is only for use in eyes. You are advised to use Retof Eye/Ear Drop for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dry eyes, blurred vision, eye discomfort, eye redness, mild itching, or irritation in the eye. You are not recommended to wear contact lenses while using Retof Eye/Ear Drop as it contains benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that changes the colour of contact lens as it may be absorbed by soft contact lens. Benzalkonium chloride also causes irritation in the eye especially if you have disorders of cornea (transparent layer at the front of eye) or dry eyes. Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before using Retof Eye/Ear Drop and reinsert them after 15 minutes after using Retof Eye/Ear Drop. Also, inform your doctor if you experience pain, stinging or abnormal sensation in the eye after using Retof Eye/Ear Drop.
