About Restonorm 1 Syrup

Restonorm 1 Syrup is used to treat schizophrenia in adults and adolescents aged 13-17 years. It is also used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat mania or mixed episodes (mania and depression) associated with Bipolar I disorder in adults, and alone in children and adolescents aged 10-17 years.

It is also used to treat irritability associated with autistic disorder in children and adolescents aged 5 to 16 years.

Restonorm 1 Syrup contains 'Risperidone' that works by blocking the effects of chemical messengers in the brain (i.e. dopamine and serotonin). Thus, it helps in improving mood, behaviour and thoughts. Restonorm 1 Syrup elevates the symptoms of the disease and prevents them from coming back. 

Take Restonorm 1 Syrup as prescribed by the doctor. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as sleepiness, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, and fatigue. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, consult your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy. Avoid breastfeeding while on treatment with Restonorm 1 Syrup. Restonorm 1 Syrup may cause dizziness, so do not drive or operate machinery unless you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Restonorm 1 Syrup as it could lead to increased dizziness.

  • Schizophrenia: Restonorm 1 Syrup treats hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking in adults and children aged 13 and older.
  • Bipolar Disorder (Manic Episodes): Restonorm 1 Syrup controls mood swings, especially manic or mixed episodes in adults and children aged 10 and older.
  • Irritability in Autism Spectrum Disorder: Restonorm 1 Syrup reduces aggression, mood swings, and self-injurious behaviour in children aged 5–16.

Directions for Use

  • Restonorm 1 Syrup can be taken with or without food.
  • Shake the bottle well before each use.
  • Measure the prescribed dose using the dropper or measuring cup provided with the pack and administer it orally.
  • It can be taken directly or can be mixed with water, orange juice, or low-fat milk and consumed immediately. It should not be mixed with tea or cola.

What if I have taken an overdose of Restonorm 1 Syrup

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Restonorm 1 Syrup as it may cause an overdose. The symptoms of overdose include tiredness or sleepiness, abnormal body movements, feeling dizzy due to low blood pressure, problems standing and walking, or abnormal heartbeats or fits. If you suspect you have taken an overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

  • Do not take Restonorm 1 Syrup if you are allergic to any of its contents. Inform your doctor if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems, low white blood cell count, seizures, breast cancer, low bone mineral density, Parkinson's disease, dehydration, phenylketonuria (accumulation of amino acid-phenylalanine in the body), or liver or kidney problems.
  • Rise slowly from sitting or lying position, as Restonorm 1 Syrup may cause orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering in blood pressure leading to dizziness on standing).
  • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning for pregnancy.
