Racenil 100mg Tablet used in the treatment of diarrhoea. The detailed uses of Racenil 100mg Tablet are as follows:

• Diarrhoea: Racenil 100mg Tablet is commonly prescribed to treat acute diarrhoea, by providing symptomatic relief.
• Rehydration: Racenil 100mg Tablet helps in rehydration by reducing the frequency and amount of stool output, thereby minimising the loss of water and essential salts (electrolytes) from the body. This helps maintain fluid balance and supports the body's natural hydration processes.
• Reduction of Gastrointestinal Secretions: Racenil 100mg Tablet works by decreasing water and electrolyte secretion in the intestines, aiding in controlling diarrhoea.

Racenil 100mg Tablet belongs to a group of medications called 'antidiarrheal' used to treat symptoms of acute (short-term) diarrhoea in infants and children over 3 months of age. Racenil 100mg Tablet contains 'Racecadotril', a prodrug (inactive form) that gets converted into 'thiorphan' (active form), which reduces the watery secretions produced by the intestine. It helps in decreasing the loss of fluid from the body, thus reducing the symptoms of diarrhoea and the risk of dehydration.

• Racenil 100mg Tablet can be administered with or without food as advised by the doctor.

• It should be given as a whole with a glass of water.
• Do not chew, crush or break it.

• Stay hydrated: Encourage your child to drink Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) frequently to replace lost fluids and essential minerals.
