PYZINA KID TABLET is used to treat and prevent tuberculosis (TB). It contains isoniazid, an antibiotic that works by preventing bacteria from producing mycolic acids, an enzyme required for cell wall formation (protective coating). As a result of the disturbance in their metabolism, bacteria that lack a cell wall die and burst. Thus, it inhibits the spread of infection by acting against the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which causes tuberculosis.

About PYZINA KID TABLET

PYZINA KID TABLET is a prescription medicine used to treat and prevent tuberculosis (TB) in children. This antibiotic works by stopping the growth of the bacteria that cause this serious lung infection. It is a critical part of your child's treatment plan to ensure the infection is completely cleared from their body.

To get the best results, your child must take this medicine every single day at the exact same time. It is highly recommended to take this medicine on an empty stomach, either one hour before or two hours after a meal, as food can prevent the medicine from being absorbed properly. Ensuring your child eats a balanced, nutrient-rich diet can also help support their immune system during recovery.

While taking PYZINA KID TABLET, some children may experience mild side effects like a temporary loss of appetite or a mild upset stomach. However, you must contact your doctor immediately if you notice serious symptoms like unusual tiredness, dark urine, or yellowing of the eyes and skin. These symptoms require urgent medical evaluation.

Talk to your doctor before starting this medicine if your child has a history of liver disease, kidney issues, or nerve tingling. Do not take this if your child has had a severe allergic reaction to this medication in the past or has active liver damage.

This medicine can interact with certain other prescriptions, particularly seizure medicines, and can cause reactions when combined with specific foods like aged cheeses or certain fish. Always consult your paediatrician or pharmacist about all other medicines, vitamins, or supplements your child is currently taking.

Uses of PYZINA KID TABLET

PYZINA KID TABLET helps treat and prevent tuberculosis (TB) by killing or stopping the growth of tuberculosis bacteria. Your doctor may prescribe it for the following conditions:

  • Active Tuberculosis: PYZINA KID TABLET helps by killing the active bacteria causing the infection, curing the illness when used in combination with other prescribed tuberculosis medicines.
  • Latent Tuberculosis Prevention: PYZINA KID TABLET helps prevent inactive tuberculosis bacteria already in the child's body from turning into an active, harmful infection.

Key Benefits

Using PYZINA KID TABLET as prescribed helps treat or prevent tuberculosis (TB) in children. Here are the key benefits you can expect:

  • Treats tuberculosis effectively: Helps eliminate tuberculosis bacteria from the body when used as part of combination therapy, supporting complete recovery from active TB.
  • Helps prevent active tuberculosis: Reduces the risk of inactive tuberculosis bacteria developing into active disease in children with latent TB infection.
  • Easy for children to take: The child-friendly dispersible tablet is easy to administer, helping ensure accurate dosing and better treatment adherence.

Directions for Use

  • PYZINA KID TABLET should be administered at least 30 minutes before a meal or 2 hours after a meal as directed by the doctor.
  • Follow your doctor’s instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication to ensure safety.
  • Disperse the tablet in the suggested amount of water and give the mixture to your child using an oral syringe or measuring cup.
  • Do not store the mixture for later use.

How PYZINA KID TABLET Works

PYZINA KID TABLET contains isoniazid, an anti-tuberculosis medicine. It works by blocking the production of mycolic acid, a fatty substance that forms an essential part of the protective cell wall of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Without enough mycolic acid, the bacteria cannot survive or multiply properly. Without a protective cell wall, the bacteria cannot grow or multiply, allowing the body's immune system to eliminate the infection more effectively. When used as prescribed, PYZINA KID TABLET helps treat active tuberculosis and prevents latent tuberculosis infection from progressing to active disease.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Give Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) supplements: This medicine can lower the levels of Vitamin B6 in your child's body, which may lead to nerve tingling. Ask your doctor about giving a daily B6 supplement to prevent this issue.
  • Avoid excessive amounts of certain foods: Foods rich in tyramine or histamine, such as aged cheeses, soy sauce, yeast extracts, tuna, and some tropical fish, may occasionally cause flushing, sweating, headache, or a rapid heartbeat while taking this medicine. PYZINA KID TABLET prevents bacteria from producing mycolic acids, which are required for the formation of cell walls (protective coating). Additionally, PYZINA KID TABLET may combine with an enzyme that interferes with bacterial cell metabolism. Bacteria die as a result of the disruption in their metabolism and the lack of a cell wall. As a result, it kills Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria that causes tuberculosis (TB) and eliminates the infection.
You are recommended to avoid giving foods containing histamine or tyramine such as cured meat, matured cheese, soya, tuna, salmon, and mackerel to your child as they may interact with PYZINA KID TABLET and cause adverse effects such as sweating, headache, dizziness, light-headedness, flushing (reddening of the skin), fainting due to low blood pressure, uneven, fast or forceful heartbeat.
It is best to give PYZINA KID TABLET on an empty stomach, either 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, as this helps the body absorb the medicine properly. If the medicine causes an upset stomach, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Place the disintegrating tablet directly on your child's tongue and let it dissolve completely before they swallow. If needed, you can dissolve it in a small spoon of water as directed by your pharmacist.
Watch for yellowing of your child's skin or the whites of their eyes, dark urine, severe tiredness, loss of appetite, or severe stomach pain. If you notice any of these signs, stop the medicine and call your doctor right away.
