PEDA HIB INJECTION is a vaccine used to help protect infants, young children, and certain high-risk adults against serious infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) bacteria. These infections can lead to life-threatening illnesses such as meningitis (infection of the lining of the brain and spinal cord), pneumonia, epiglottitis, septic arthritis, and bloodstream infections. The vaccine stimulates your body's immune system to produce protective antibodies, helping prevent future Hib infections.
PEDA HIB INJECTION is administered as an injection into a muscle by a healthcare professional according to the recommended immunisation schedule. Completing the full vaccination series is essential for long-lasting protection. No special dietary restrictions are required before or after vaccination. Ensuring your child is well hydrated, adequately rested, and generally healthy on the day of vaccination may help improve comfort during the visit.
Most people tolerate this vaccine well. Mild side effects such as pain, redness, swelling at the injection site, mild fever, irritability, or temporary loss of appetite are common and usually resolve within a few days. Seek immediate medical attention if severe allergic reactions, persistent high fever, seizures, or unusual weakness occur after vaccination.
Before receiving PEDA HIB INJECTION, inform your healthcare provider if the patient has a high fever, moderate or severe acute illness, a bleeding disorder, a weakened immune system, or has previously experienced a severe allergic reaction to a Hib-containing vaccine or any vaccine component. Vaccination may be postponed until recovery from significant illness.
Certain medicines, including chemotherapy, immunosuppressants, or high-dose corticosteroids, may reduce the body's immune response to the vaccine. If the patient is pregnant, breastfeeding, elderly, or has a weakened immune system, consult your doctor to determine whether vaccination is appropriate.
Your doctor may prescribe PEDA HIB INJECTION to treat the following conditions:
